Quick answer
Carpet is a warm, soft and sound-absorbing floor covering suited to bedrooms, lounges, stairs and landings. We supply and fit carpet across Burton-on-Trent and the surrounding area. Send your room sizes for an indicative estimate, or book a home measure so quantities, seam positions and gripper work can be confirmed before any quotation.
Carpet remains the most popular choice for bedrooms, living rooms and staircases because it is warm underfoot, softens sound and feels comfortable for family homes. The right choice depends on the room, the traffic it takes and how it will be cleaned.
We supply and fit a range of carpets and can also fit carpet you have already bought. Because every room, doorway and staircase is different, an accurate figure always comes from a measure — the details below explain what we need to give you a useful indicative estimate first.
Who this is for
- Homeowners re-carpeting bedrooms, lounges, stairs or a whole house
- Landlords wanting hard-wearing, easy-to-replace carpet for rentals
- New-build owners planning carpet upstairs with hard flooring downstairs
- Anyone who already has carpet and needs a fitter
Suitable applications
- Bedrooms and lounges where warmth and comfort matter
- Stairs and landings, where grip and safety are important
- Home offices and snugs that benefit from sound absorption
What's included
- Advice on carpet type, fibre and weight for each room
- Supply of the chosen carpet, or fitting of carpet you provide
- Fitting to gripper with the appropriate underlay where needed
- Trimming to skirtings, thresholds and door bars
What isn't automatically included
- Moving heavy or fragile furniture unless agreed in advance
- Uplift and disposal of old flooring unless included in your quotation
- Subfloor repairs, levelling or door trimming unless specified
- Underlay, gripper or door bars where a separate item is required — these are itemised in your quotation
What we need to give you an estimate
- Which rooms, and rough length × width of each
- Whether stairs and a landing are included, and how many steps
- The current floor covering and whether it needs removing
- Whether furniture will be in place
- Any preference on carpet type, colour or budget level
How carpet is measured
Carpet is usually made in 4 m and 5 m widths, so a room's dimensions decide how the carpet is cut and where any seams fall. A fitter measures each room, plans the layout to keep seams away from doorways and high-traffic paths, and allows for pattern matching where relevant.
Stairs are measured step by step, including the nosings, and a landing is measured separately. This is why a home measure gives a far more reliable figure than a plan alone — see our guide on measuring carpet for stairs and landings.
Preparation to consider
- Old carpet and underlay lifted and, if agreed, taken away
- Gripper checked or renewed, and any protruding nails or staples removed
- A reasonably clean, dry and level subfloor for the new carpet
- Doors may need easing or trimming to clear a thicker carpet and underlay
Likely project stages
- Send room details for an indicative estimate, or book a home measure
- Measure and confirm quantities, underlay and any preparation
- Receive a written quotation with the agreed scope
- Fitting arranged once the carpet is in and any preparation is complete
Honest limitations
Carpet is not the best choice for kitchens, bathrooms or utility rooms where spills and moisture are common — a vinyl or LVT floor usually suits those rooms better.
We don't quote a price on this page. Carpet prices vary widely by fibre, weight and backing, so figures are always confirmed by quotation after a measure.
